School Profile

The Hazeldean Elementary Program has 140 students from kindergarten through grade six.  We are currently planning one class for each grade from Kindergarten to grade six. Special needs children are integrated into these classrooms. Our Interactions program supports students in grades 1 - 3 who are on the autism spectrum and require specialized support.

The Pre-Kindergarten Program provides multidisciplinary support to pre-school children with complex learning needs and developmental delays.  It is directly funded through Alberta Education Program Unit Funding.  There are currently 80 children between 3 and 5 ½ years of age enrolled in our program who have moderate to severe delays including: speech and language; gross and fine motor; cognitive; behavioural/emotional; and social skills development.  This includes but is not limited to children diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, and emotional behavior disorders.  Service to children is provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of teachers, educational assistants, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, family resource coordinators, and administrators.  The majority of programming occurs within the daily classroom routine.‌
